The best robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. robot vacuums reviews and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.
If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
